Isle auto insurance rates compare favorably with the mainland
Hawaii’s automobile insurance rates, historically among the highest in the nation, now compared with the average, public insurance Metcalf said Commissioner Wayne yesterday.Metcalf said new applications for automobile insurance rates to rise, were generally small and in line with changes in health care costs and costs related to car accidents.
“This is very good news considering that the costs of many products are often higher than Hawaii,” he said.
Before the reform of auto insurance in 1997, auto insurance quotes over the islands was higher than in most places on land, Metcalf said.
